Design Consulting

Figuring out the layout, design, and aesthetics can feel like a massive hurdle. That’s why Nothing Ventured Vans offers design and build consulting to help clients arrive at the perfect van they’d like to build themselves. Consulting services include the initial van layout, component and material selection, and electrical system sizing and component layout, to name a few.

Nothing Ventured’s Build Process

Step One: Discussion, design and budget

The build process starts with a phone call where we’ll discuss the broad strokes of what you’re looking for in a van build, how you plan to use the van, specific features and components, and the overall aesthetic you’d like in your van.  From there, we’ll mock up 3D models of the build and put together rough budget estimates and timelines. If we coalesce around a build outline and budget you like, then we’re on to the next step.

Step Four: Dropping off your van

With details of the build more solidified, the next step is to drop off your van at Nothing Ventured in Walla Walla, WA. There are flights to Seattle from Walla Walla, and it’s also possible to have your van picked up and delivered to our shop. If possible, we ask that van arrived 10-14 days prior to build start date. A deposit of 50% of build total is due upon van delivery.

Step Two: Securing a build slot

Once the design and budget for the build are established, the next step is to secure your build slot by making a deposit of 10% of the build's total estimate. This deposit, which holds the available build slot, is refundable up until 60 days out from the intended start date and will be applied to your initial build deposit.  With you build slot reserved, we’re now ready to start refining and dialing in the look and feel of your van.

Step Five: Progress reports

Making sure you’re updated on the status of your build is a priority here at Nothing Ventured. That’s why we send updates every two weeks (sometimes more often) that include pictures of the build, list of completed installs, upcoming installs and pending questions for clients.

Step Three: Fine-tuning design

Once you’ve secured your build slot, we’ll start fine-tuning the design of your build. This includes picking color palate, materials, finishes, cabinet styles, hardware, and other miscellaneous items. In this phase, we’ll have you submit inspiration for your build, which can include other vans or features from vans you like, home decor trends you prefer, etc..

Step Six: Build completion

As the build concludes, we’ll schedule a pick up time that allows for 2-3 hours of walk-through, Q&A, and instructions for your new van. Prior to pickup, we take each van through a shakedown trip, where all systems are checked and re-checked to make sure your van is ready to hit the open road. The remaining 50% of the build budget (plus any overages) is due when vehicle is picked up.
